Navigation cards

The Navigation Cards are a practical tool designed to support learning processes when working with young people. They help users explore perspectives, question assumptions and reflect on the consequences of beliefs and actions across different Areas of Practice. The cards are organised into three types: position cards, bias cards and consequence cards. Each type invites a different kind of engagement. Position cards open space for reflection based on personal experience. Bias cards challenge common assumptions and provoke discussion. Consequence cards support thinking about how beliefs and decisions can shape actions and longer-term effects.

The Navigation Cards are intentionally flexible. They can be used on their own or combined with workshops, activities, podcasts and other methods. They work in individual reflection, small group settings or larger group processes, and can be introduced before, during or after an activity, depending on the purpose of the learning experience. Rather than offering ready-made answers, the Navigation Cards support orientation and choice. They allow users to navigate complex topics, connect practice to reflection, and decide how deeply they want to explore a theme at a given moment. The three card types work together across the Areas of Practice. There is one Position Card for each of the 15 Areas of Practice, which serves as an entry point and orientation to the topic. In addition, each Area of Practice includes 10 Bias Cards and 10 Consequence Cards, which support deeper exploration of assumptions, perspectives and possible outcomes.

Depending on your focus, you can work with one Area of Practice at a time or combine cards across topics.

This section introduces the Navigation Cards and shows different ways they can be used in practice. It also provides access to tutorials and printable materials for those who want to work with the cards independently or integrate them into existing programmes.
